Good morning,
Last night, a young male was issued with a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) warning after being seen riding an electric scooter at speed through Rugeley Town Centre, with little regard for pedestrians using the area.
The warning has been issued due to concerns around anti-social behaviour and public safety. Should the warning be breached, the individual could face a £100 fixed penalty notice.
Electric scooters can pose a significant risk when ridden irresponsibly. They are often used on pavements where they can endanger pedestrians, particularly elderly residents, young children, and those with mobility issues. Their speed, quiet operation, and limited visibility can increase the risk of collisions and injury.
We will continue to take action where the use of electric scooters contributes to anti-social behaviour or places others at risk.
If you witness similar behaviour in your area, please report it via 101 or through our online reporting channels. Together, we can help keep our town centres safe and welcoming for everyone.
